GPS Ventucopa Rock Plant
The proposed project involves the continuation of operations and excavation of a replacement pit for an existing aggregate mine, the GPS Ventucopa Rock Plant (GPS Mine), located about three miles north of the community of Ventucopa adjacent to Highway 33 in northeastern Santa Barbara County. The GPS Mine occupies 80 acres located about 1,000 feet north of the recently approved but not yet existing Diamond Rock Mine in the Cuyama River. The mine operator, GPS RiverRock Products, has filed an application to shift the location for the in-channel mine pit to a 20-acre area located west of the existing pit. The additional area will extend the life of the mine for another 10 years. The site is located on the west side of State Highway 33, approximately 4.5 miles south of its junction with State Highway 166 (APNs 149-170-035, 149-210-011- and 149-210-022, in the Ventucopa area, 5th Supervisorial District). StatusDecember 2011 - Project is on hold. Applicant may request that a Revised Draft EIR be prepared. Hearings
