Building & Safety

Building & Safety Division's primary function is to provide reasonable controls and regulations that protect the citizenry and establish effective safeguards for the life, health and property equally throughout the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County. This is achieved through the application of uniform codes and standards that involve design, materials, construction, use, and occupancy of all buildings constructed within our jurisdiction. Building & Safety staff strive to implement these standards in a fair and consistent manner while encouraging an open communication process with the public they serve.
